1. Introduction
Metamersist Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("Metamersist," "we," "us," or "our") operates the LegalMind mobile application (the "App"). LegalMind is an AI-powered legal document drafting platform designed exclusively for licensed advocates practising in Indian courts.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use LegalMind. Please read it carefully. By registering and using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not access or use the App.
This policy applies to information collected through the LegalMind Android application and any associated backend services operated by Metamersist.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account & Identity Information
When you register for LegalMind, we collect:
- Mobile phone number (used for OTP-based authentication)
- Email address (used for magic-link sign-in)
- Full name and display name
- Bar council enrolment number and state bar association
- Practice area and court preferences
2.2 Case & Document Content
To generate legal documents, we collect and process:
- Case facts, party names, dates, and court details you enter
- Documents you upload (PDFs, images) for AI-assisted fact extraction
- Drafted documents and revision history stored within the App
- Case notes, client information, hearing schedules, and timeline entries
Important: Before transmitting any case content to our AI provider, we automatically redact personally identifiable details — phone numbers, email addresses, and ID numbers are replaced with placeholder tokens server-side. The redacted text is what is sent for AI processing.
2.3 Voice Recordings
With your explicit permission, the App records your voice when you use the voice intake feature. Audio is transmitted to our voice transcription provider (Sarvam AI) for conversion to text. We do not store the raw audio recording after transcription is complete. The resulting text (extracted case facts) is stored as part of your case record.
2.4 Payment & Transaction Information
When you recharge your in-app wallet, payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not store full card numbers or CVV details. We receive and retain:
- Razorpay Order ID and Payment ID (for verification)
- Recharge amount, timestamp, and wallet transaction history
- Document generation credit usage history
2.5 Device & Usage Information
We automatically collect technical information to operate and improve the App:
- Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
- App version and session activity logs
- Crash reports and error diagnostics
- Feature usage patterns (which document types are generated)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information for the following purposes:
- To authenticate you and maintain your account securely
- To generate AI-assisted legal documents based on your case facts
- To transcribe voice intake and extract structured case facts
- To process wallet recharges and debit credits for document generation
- To store and manage your cases, clients, hearings, and documents
- To enforce daily usage caps and prevent fraudulent activity
- To send notifications about hearings, document status, and account activity
- To provide customer support and respond to enquiries
- To improve App functionality, fix bugs, and develop new features
- To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations
We do not use your case content or client data for training AI models.
4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
LegalMind relies on the following third-party service providers to operate. Each provider receives only the minimum data necessary for their function:
Anthropic (United States)
AI processing for document generation. Receives redacted case content (PII removed). Governed by Anthropic's usage policies.
Google Firebase (United States)
Authentication — phone OTP and email magic-link sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Razorpay (India)
Payment processing for wallet recharges. Card and banking details handled solely by Razorpay; we receive only order and payment IDs. Governed by Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
Sarvam AI (India)
Voice transcription in Indian languages. Receives audio recordings only during active transcription; raw audio is not retained after the call completes.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Device Permissions
Camera
The App requests camera access to scan eCourt QR codes printed on court documents, enabling instant retrieval of case information. Camera access is used solely for QR code scanning and no images are stored or transmitted.
Microphone
The App requests microphone access for the voice intake feature. Audio is recorded only when you initiate a voice session and is immediately transcribed. Raw audio is not stored on-device or on our servers after transcription.
You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Revoking permissions will disable the respective features but will not affect other App functionality.
6. Data Security
We implement the following technical and organisational safeguards:
- All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Authentication uses short-lived JWT access tokens (15-minute expiry) and 30-day refresh tokens stored in encrypted device storage
- PII (phone numbers, emails, ID numbers) is redacted from case content before AI processing
- Sensitive credentials are never stored in application source code
- Daily usage caps limit exposure in the event of account compromise
- Admin actions are logged in an immutable audit trail
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and case data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you our services. Upon account deletion:
- Personal account data (name, phone, email) is deleted within 30 days
- Case content and generated documents are deleted within 30 days
- Transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with applicable financial regulations
- Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely
Voice recordings are not retained after transcription is complete. Uploaded documents are stored only as long as your account is active.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Data portability: Request your case data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent: Revoke camera or microphone permissions at any time via device settings
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for purposes beyond service delivery

9. Children's Privacy
LegalMind is intended exclusively for licensed legal professionals and is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will promptly delete that account and its associated data.
10. AI-Generated Content & Professional Responsibility
All documents generated by LegalMind are AI-assisted drafts. They are not legal advice. You, as the licensed advocate, are solely responsible for reviewing, certifying, and filing any document generated through the App. LegalMind attaches an AI Disclosure Certificate to every exported PDF to support compliance with bar council guidelines on AI-assisted work.
11. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Redacted case content is processed by Anthropic, whose servers are located in the United States. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase, also operating internationally. By using LegalMind, you consent to the transfer of your (redacted) data to these international providers under their respective data processing agreements.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
